Areas of Expertise

Counselling

We will work 1-1 in a supportive counselling room. I will work hard to ensure you are as comfortable as possible and we will only discuss things you are happy with. We will have as many sessions as you like although this may be guided by my professional opinion (we will probably need at least 8-10 sessions). The first session will be an assessment in which we will talk about you and anything you may wish to bring up.

Integrative Counselling for Children and Young People

I am trained in a range of counselling methods. This places me in a very strong position to support you as sessions will be tailored to meet your needs. I will draw from my training in CBT, Person-centered, psychodynamic, systemic, creative and others.

Additional Needs / ADHD / ASD

I am also a fully qualified teacher who has worked with a range of children with additional needs. I am experienced in working with children and young people who have additional needs like ADHD and ASD.

Next Steps

Making the decision to come to counselling is the first step and it is a brave positive start. The next step is to find a counsellor you think you may be able to talk to. Look for someone who is local and registered with an ethical body. I am registered with BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and NCS (National Counselling Society). Being members of governing bodies makes sure that the counsellor is qualified and upholds a  professional standard to strict guidelines.

If you think I could help you, please go to my contact us page and fill in your details. I will then get in contact with you to arrange a first session at a mutually convenient time. The first session will be mainly introductions and finding a little about you. We will only talk about things you are comfortable talking about.

If you are finding things a bit tricky please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be in touch. We can then begin to work together.

First Session

Once you have made contact we will have a chat over the phone for around 30 minutes, this is to go over the process and take a little bit of history. This will be free of charge. We will then arrange to have a first session, this will be held with the young person and their parent / carer will be invited to attend for the first 10-15 minutes. During this time we will go through the agreement which will need to be signed. The rest of the 50 minute session will be held with the young person and we will begin to get to know each other.
